The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin is a volunteer driven organization. Our dedicated partners across the state lead prevention efforts, support those who are affected by kidney disease and advocate for resources on behalf of dialysis patients, transplant recipients, living donors and the thousands of Wisconsinites facing the public health crisis of chronic kidney disease.

Where Can You Help?

Below are a few of our current volunteer needs, but there are many ways to engage with the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin. Give us a call at 414-897-8669 or email Carolyn Spath, Director of Community Outreach to discuss how you can get involved.

Board of Directors — The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin is currently accepting applications for our Board of Directors. The board is responsible for providing leadership and advancing the organization’s mission-based outcomes and fundraising initiatives. Meetings are generally held quarterly. Interested applicants should email Michael Crowley or contact him by phone at 414-897-8669.

KEEP Healthy Screenings – The Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP Healthy Screenings) are a free service of NKF Wisconsin. Through this free program, community members learn their kidney health risk through health history, vitals check, urinalyses testing, and consultation with a medical provider. Many hands are needed to make this program successful. If you are interested in joining our next KEEP Screening or would like to be added to our volunteer list for the future please contact Carolyn Spath via email or 414-897-8669.

Renal Professional Education Conference Committee — Annually, we host the NKF Wisconsin Renal Professional Education Conference, which is an event for social workers, dietitians, transplant coordinators, dialysis technicians, and renal nurses. Committee members help to recruit speakers, identify topics of interest, and organize the event. Meetings are held monthly with additional meetings close to the event, which takes place in mid-November each year.

Event Support — The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin hosts a range of events throughout the year from community health screenings to fundraising events. For all of these activities, we need extra hands to pass out name tags, direct guests and generally help the event run smoothly. Whether you are interested in a sustained commitment, or just one day, your smiling face is welcome.

Kidney Ambassadors — Wisconsin is a large state, and we need help spreading reliable information about kidney health and organ donation. Kidney ambassadors are on-call to help with informational tables, give community presentations or participate in interviews with local media.

Medical Professionals — Community health screenings, conference faculty and technical advice are just a few of the ways medical professionals support the work of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.
