Be In Charge of Your Health
If you’re an adult with any kind of ongoing health condition like chronic pain, depression, anxiety, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure or chronic kidney disease, consider joining a LIVING WELL With Chronic Conditions workshop in your county.
The workshops are run by a trained volunteer who has one or more of these health conditions. During the six-week workshop series, you’ll find better ways to deal with pain or fatigue; discover better nutrition and exercise choices; and learn better ways to talk to your doctor and family about your health.
To find a workshop near you, visit: http://dhs.wisconsin.gov/aging/CDSMP/.
Area Support Groups
Support Groups offer a place to share experiences, gain emotional support and find positive ways to cope with chronic kidney disease. Topics discussed may include: the challenges of living with kidney disease and its treatment; how families and friends are affected; dealing with setbacks and enhancing life in a positive way. These are independently run support groups and not affiliated with the NKFW.
If you know of a support group not on this list, please contact the NKFW at 1-800-543-6393 x 10 or e-mail nkfw@kidneywi.org.
