What is living donation?
Living donation is when a living person donates all or part of an organ for transplantation to another person. The living donor can be a relative, not related, or a complete stranger to the recipient.
The kidney is the most commonly given organ, but parts of the lung, liver and pancreas can also be transplanted.
Wisconsin became the first state to pass legislation to allow Wisconsin residents who are living donors to deduct up to $10,000 in expenses related to making a 'living donation'. The NKFW actively advocated for the passage of this legislation.
