This fall favorite event promises to be bigger and better than ever with a NEW LOCATION, Fox Brook Park in Brookfield, and a NEW DATE, Sunday, September 20. The Kidney Walk is a non-competitive, fundraising walk focusing on education and prevention of kidney and urinary tract diseases, and awareness of the need for organ donation. Walkers will have the opportunity to celebrate LIFE with their friends, family, and coworkers as they walk the 1-mile loop around Fox Brook Lake. Why We Walk
The National Kidney Foundation’s Kidney Walk is a non-competitive, fundraising walk focusing on education and prevention of kidney and urinary tract diseases, and awareness of the need for organ donation. The Kidney Walk presents an opportunity for family, friends and colleagues to celebrate LIFE while participating in an inspiring, community-based event which calls attention to the need for early detection of kidney disease while supporting NKFW’s patient services, public and professional initiatives and kidney research.

Chronic kidney disease affects 26 million Americans and another 20 million are at risk. Risk factors include high blood pressure, diabetes and family history
1 in 9 Wisconsin residents have kidney disease—and most don’t know it.
1,647 Wisconsin children and adults were diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure in 2007.
494 kidney transplants were performed in Wisconsin last year. Unfortunately 1,135 people were left waiting for an available kidney transplant match due to a shortage of organ donors.
46% of the kidney transplants were the result of living donor transplants.
