ABOUT US - The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin
The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin (NKFW) is a Wisconsin non-profit 501 (c) (3) health charity founded in 1968. For over 35 years, the NKFW has been dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.
The NKFW is Wisconsin’s leading public health resource for all individuals and their families affected by, or at-risk, of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The NKFW is committed to reducing the impact of CKD through its prevention, detection and early intervention programs; consumer and professional education programs; public policy and advocacy initiatives; organ and tissue donor awareness; community collaborations and direct support for kidney-related research.
The NKFW works with community groups and organizations to provide free health screenings and and educational programs . Patients, family members and the general public rely on the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin as a reliable resource for information related to dialysis, transplantation, living donation as well as diabetes and hypertension. All consumer programs and services, including emergency medical identification jewelry is provided free of charge. The NKFW relies solely on monetary contributions from individuals, companies, organizations and vehicle donations through its Kidney Cars program.
