Fact # 56:
The National Kidney Foundation’s Kidney Cars program is America’s #1 choice for donating a car.

3 BASIC TESTS

Your doctor or clinic should check to see if you have any risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD). These include: diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of CKD and older age.

If you are at ‘increased risk’ for CKD your doctor or clinic should conduct the following “3 BASIC TESTS”.

  1. Check your Blood Pressure.

  2.  Perform a test for Protein In Your Urine.

  3. Test your blood for Creatinine.

With the results of these tests your doctor will want to pinpoint your diagnosis and check your kidney function to help plan your treatment.

The National Kidney Foundation provides a free community-based health program called the Kidney Early Evaluation Proogram (KEEP). Feel free to call us for details about this program and when it is offered in your area.
